At Pool, we facilitate payments with security and transparency in mind. This policy explains how we handle data when acting as the bridge between companies ("Clients") and their collaborators ("Payees").

1. Payment Processing & Stripe

We use Stripe to handle our payment processing. By using our service, you acknowledge the following:

• No Banking Data Storage: [Company Name] does not collect, process, or store sensitive financial information like bank account numbers or routing numbers.
• Direct Hand-off: All financial data provided by Payees is entered directly into Stripe’s secure infrastructure.
• Stripe’s Privacy: Your financial interactions are governed by the Stripe Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Do Collect

While we don't handle your bank details, we do collect "Identity and Metadata" to manage the payment relationship:

• Identification: Name, email address, and tax identification numbers (if required for 1099 reporting).
• Transaction Metadata: Payment amounts, dates, and descriptions of work provided by the Client.
• Communication: Any details shared during support requests or account setup.

3. How We Use This Information

We use the non-financial data we collect to:

• Initiate Transfers: Instructing Stripe to move funds to the correct Payee.
• Reporting: Providing Clients with dashboards showing who they have paid and when.
• Compliance: Fulfilling tax reporting obligations (such as generating 1099-NEC forms).

4. Data Sharing

We only share information with third parties in the following scenarios:

• With Stripe: To facilitate the creation of your "Connected Account" and ensure funds reach you.
• With Tax Authorities: As required by law for income reporting.
• Legal Requirements: If we are compelled by a court order or to prevent active fraud.

5. Data Retention

Because we are involved in financial transactions, we are legally required to keep records of who was paid and how much for a period of 7 years, even if you close your account. However, we do not retain the ability to view your full banking details via Stripe after the transaction is initiated.

Security Disclaimer: While we leverage Stripe’s world-class security for your bank details, we maintain our own rigorous standards for your identity data, using industry-standard encryption and restricted employee access.
